Pastor Enoch Adeboye the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, during the church’s 2024 convention held at the Redemption City of the RCCG, has addressed the issue of once saved forever saved, saying preachers who undermine the place of holiness, purity, commitment in service to God are agents of the devil.
Adeboye who preached on the topic ‘Pure As Light’, lamented the audacity of some preachers and how they had turned Christianity into a joke.
In his words; “God expects His children to be like Him, like father, like children. He does not expect half-measures from us. People have turned Christianity into a joke. There are some preachers now who say you can even be born again and continue adultery. There is one preacher who says once you are born again, continue in your sins, just keep on listening to sermons. The devil is a liar.
“In an attempt to teach the whole counsel of God, attention has been focused more and more on things of the earth; five ways to breakthrough, ways to prosperity and the rest. It’s not that all these things are bad, it’s just that they are secondary. Seek ye first the kingdom of God…..
“When you become Christian, you must become perfect. God your father has no room for half-measure. If you want to be cold, be cold. God has no room for lukewarmness. Whatever you do for Him, you do it perfectly. From now on, your attitude towards worshipping God must change. Worship God wholeheartedly, in spirit and truth”.
In his welcome address, the general overseer of RCCG lamented that most Christians are no longer heavenly-minded but rather focus on earthly things. He further enlightened the congregation on the purpose and reason for the annual spiritual exercise.
He warned that the convention is not an outreach but an in-reach event, a gathering where the word of God is being taught, to remind one another of some of the things learned in the past, encourage and receive spiritual strength from within.
In his words: “I am sure you would ask yourself the purpose of the convention. why all these preparations, why spending all this money and why not conduct a convention every four years?
“I would love to enlighten you about many other reasons we gather every year for the convention.
“The number one reason is for us to praise God together. When we have corporate praise, we get corporate miracles, miracles beyond the normal. When you are looking for a fearful miracle, you come to the convention.
“Reason number two is to fellowship together massively and this would lead to God commanding His blessings on you. Blessings have no choice but to descend on you.
“We also gather for conventions for us to pray prayers of agreement. Reason number four is for us to encourage one another as we are all pilgrims here on earth.
“The convention is not an outreach. Although on Friday there will be a little bit of outreach where the door will be open for Dick and Harry. But basically, the convention is an in-reach, the gathering of those who are on the way, where we teach deep things, where we remind ourselves of some of the things we learned in the past. Encourage, revive, we are strengthened from within.
“In this convention, we are going to learn about basic things we need to know on our way to heaven. And I am grateful that God gave us this year’s convention theme to discuss. It seems Christians have forgotten about heaven. Attention has been shifted from things of heaven to things of the earth.
“Sooner or later we will leave this world. Some people were with us last year but have gone to rest with the Lord.
“During this convention, by the grace of God, we will be teaching about things of heaven less than things of the earth. I hope that you will pray that God will teach you things of heaven, and remind you of things of heaven you have learned and forgotten.
“I can assure you there is a God in heaven, and He is the All-sufficient God, He can heal, deliver, safe and do more at this convention. Some things are good, but they are temporal. Therefore, it is good for us to focus on things that last forever.
