The Igbo community must prioritize developing their homeland by creating business hubs and economic centers that attract foreign investment and drive growth in the eastern region, says Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State.

Speaking at the “Anambra Homeland Consciousness Initiative” event in Lagos over the weekend, Governor Soludo emphasized the need for Ndigbo to leverage their entrepreneurial prowess and financial strength to uplift their own communities.

“We, Ndigbo, are a blessed and distinguished people, known for our wisdom, resilience, and ingenuity,” he stated. “Like the cactus plant that thrives even in the desert, we have the ability to overcome challenges. We flourish wherever we go, generating wealth in every corner of the world.”

However, he expressed concern over a growing trend where Igbo entrepreneurs invest heavily outside their homeland while neglecting their own region.

“Charity begins at home,” he cautioned. “It’s time for deep introspection. Given today’s political and economic realities, we must rethink this pattern and take proactive steps to safeguard our business interests.”

Governor Soludo urged the Igbo business community to adopt a “Homeland Consciousness” mindset by redirecting investments to the Southeast. He stressed that such efforts would spur development, reduce poverty, and create lasting prosperity.

“We must build business hubs, establish boom towns, and attract foreign capital to our homeland. It is essential to channel our resources toward replicating the success we have achieved elsewhere within our own communities.”

Reaffirming his commitment to transforming the Southeast into a thriving economic center, the governor called on Igbo entrepreneurs to take decisive action in building a sustainable and prosperous future for their people.
