Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has raised concern over the growing influence of fake native doctors and prophets that are deceiving youths with promises of fake wealth and protection through fetish charms.

The governor condemned the acts of these fake spiritualists, accusing them of encouraging youths to participate in criminal activities. He also accused them of creating an illusion of spiritual protection.

He noted that some of these individuals mislead youth into believing spiritual protection will make it easy to evade security agencies and personnel.

The governor revealed that about 23 indigenes of Anambra State are on death row in Indonesia for drug-related offenses, describing the development as result of misinformation and manipulation.

“It is tragic that many young men have bought into these lies and now face prison sentences abroad,” Soludo said.

He further questioned how authentic self-acclaimed spiritual figures really were. Noting that most of them did not live the grand lifestyles they promoted to their believers.

“One of them has a son working in Nweni. If he truly had supernatural powers, why hasn’t he transformed his own household?” the governor queried.

He decried the rhetoric being pushed that youths can acquire money through rituals and shortcuts instead of hard work and commitment.

Governor Soludu issued a strong warning that anyone caught spreading harmful and deceitful ideologies under the guise of spirituality or content will face legal consequences.

He further hammered on his administrations resolve to protect Anambra youths from exploitation and steer them toward a path rooted in diligence and integrity.
