Venerable Dr. Olubode Abimbola Otenaike was born on the 21st October 1961 into the Royal Dynasty of Oludubi Dedenigbo of the Late Oba Ezekiel and Olori Sabainah Otenaike, the then Elerunwon of Erunwon Ijebu.
Venerable Dr. Otenaike’s Christian roots run deep. He had his primary education at Epiphany Primary School, Erunwon Ijebu, and secondary education at Luba Comprehensive High School, Ijebu-Ode.
His theological journey began at Vining College of Theology, Akure where he got a Diploma in Theology, followed by a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Jos and a B.Div. from Theological College of Northern Nigeria, Bukuru. He later earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in Church History and Ecumenism from Ekiti State University.
A product of fervent evangelism, he was born again through the ministry of Ven. Tunde Abiala and spiritually nurtured by Rt. Revd. Dr. Andrew Ajayi. He served in various youth and church leadership roles—Choir, PCC Secretary, Boys’ Brigade Captain—and was a known face in Ogun and Ekiti States’ Boys Brigade movements.
Before full-time ministry, he worked for nearly a decade with NEPA (1980–1989). He resigned to follow God’s call and was ordained in 1992. Since then, he has held pastoral, teaching, evangelistic, and administrative responsibilities across multiple dioceses and archdeaconries.
Ven. Otenaike has achieved various feats across the span of his career.
He has served as CAN Chairman (Ado LGA), National Executive of Bible Society of Nigeria, and led interdenominational revivals in Erunwon.
He pioneered the planting of 23 churches across multiple archdeaconries, growing Christ Church Ureje Ado-Ekiti from 7 to over 700 members in 5 years and he initiated and completed multiple church, school, vicarage, and office building projects: spearheading land acquisitions for church investment drive (66 plots in Ado-Ekiti).
He led a successful reconciliation between long-divided Ikere and Uro Archdeaconries; brought lasting unity and spiritual revival. He also founded YACCON (Young Anglican Christian Convention), empowered lay ministers, and facilitated leadership development among the youth.
He has launched scholarship schemes, supported widows and the elderly, and led economic empowerment efforts in various communities.
He has also hosted synods in three different archdeaconries consecutively, demonstrating strategic capacity and diocesan trust.
He is a seasoned priest, visionary leader, passionate soul-winner, and transformative administrator with over three decades of fruitful and impactful ministry.

His life’s work reflects a calling anchored in Christ, driven by purpose, and empowered by grace—yielding lasting spiritual fruits to the glory of God.
Venerable Dr. Otenaike is married to Mrs. Oluwatoyin Otenaike, and they are blessed with five biological children and several spiritual/adopted children. His first son is an ordained Anglican priest, a testament to the spiritual legacy he is building.
