The Northern chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed happiness and relief following the safe release of the remaining worshippers who were abducted in Kurmin Wali community, Kaduna State.

The association described the return of the victims as a moment of divine grace and reassurance for the Church and the affected communities, coming after several days of tension and uncertainty sparked by the abduction.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna, the Chairman of Northern CAN, Reverend Joseph Hayab, praised Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for what he termed decisive, compassionate, and people-focused leadership throughout the crisis.

According to Hayab, the governor showed genuine concern and responsiveness to the suffering of the affected residents, noting that this approach marked a clear contrast to past experiences where citizens were allegedly ignored or intimidated during similar security challenges.

“We rejoice with the Church and the people of Kurmin Wali over the safe return of all the abducted worshippers,” Hayab stated.

He further commended Governor Sani for demonstrating empathy and keeping his word to ensure the release of the victims. “We deeply appreciate Governor Uba Sani for his remarkable leadership and compassion during these difficult moments. He listened to the cries of the people and honoured his commitment to secure the freedom of the abducted worshippers,” he added.

Northern CAN also applauded the efforts of the security agencies involved in the operation, including the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and other security operatives.

The association noted that the successful rescue was made possible through the dedication, professionalism, and effective coordination of the security agencies.

In addition, Northern CAN extended its appreciation to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Director-General of the DSS, Mr. Adeola Ajayi, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their respective roles in ensuring the safety and protection of citizens.
