Manchester United have reportedly begun discussions with the representatives of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as they explore options to bolster their attack ahead of the new season.
According to French journalist Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Osimhen has been in sensational form this season while on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, scoring 33 goals and registering 8 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.
Despite his standout performances in Turkey, a permanent stay at Galatasaray appears unlikely due to the club’s financial limitations.
“While it now seems unlikely that he will remain in Turkey, the Nigerian striker is drawing strong interest from the Premier League. Manchester United are seriously considering him for next season and have already held talks with his camp,” the report said.
Osimhen, a Lagos-born forward, is also attracting attention from the Saudi Pro League. He previously turned down a €50 million bid from Al Hilal last summer, and a fresh inquiry is now coming from Saudi side Neom. However, the 26-year-old reportedly prefers a move to England’s top flight.
Negotiations may prove expensive. Osimhen is reportedly demanding an annual salary of €12 million—an amount only a few Premier League clubs can match.
United, currently evaluating their attacking options, are keeping Osimhen in consideration as a Plan B if their pursuit of Sporting CP striker Victor Gyökeres falls through. Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap is also said to be on their shortlist.
Although Osimhen remains under contract with Napoli, a deal could materialize if Manchester United are willing to meet the Serie A club’s asking price, which could exceed €75 million including add-ons.
