Njideka Iyiazi won a bronze medal for Team Nigeria on Thursday in the Women’s Shot-Put final of the ongoing Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Iyiazi had a throw of 10.40m in the F/57 class to finish on the podium and increase Nigeria’s medal haul after Day Ten of competition.

This is Nigeria’s first medal of the Athletics event of the Games. There are hopes for more medals in other events lined up for the coming days.

Earlier, Team Nigeria had clinched yet another bronze medal in the men’s para Table Tennis class Three category through the duo of Tajudeen Agunbiade and Olufemi Alabi.

Although they lost 1-3(10-12, 11-8, 10-12 and 5-11) to their Australian opponents in the semifinals, their performance was good enough to earn Nigeria the bronze medal.

Team Nigeria now have a total of eight medals so far at the Games, three gold, one silver and four bronze.
