The Primate, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukaba has frowned against the actions of the presidency over attacks on Nigerians criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari on his ‘inability to curb the security crisis rocking the entire nation.’
The Primate, who made the assertion on Wednesday at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi during a courtesy visit on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, urged the presidency to rather address issues confronting the unity of Nigeria and stop gagging those who speak out.
In his words, “instead of tackling the problems that are facing us, the powers that be are busy trying to gag the people who are speaking out.”
The clergyman was in the state for the Abuja Provincial Council Conference of the Anglican Communion.
He decried the multifaceted challenges confronting the country, such as insecurity and the poor economic conditions that have led to the displacement of millions and made life unbearable to all.
According to him, one’s heart bleeds at the sight of those staying in Internally Displaced Person’s, IDPs camps, stressing that God would not forsake His people.
The Primate pledged the support of the Church to the administration of Governor Samuel Ortom, pointing out that as he has chosen to honour God, he would always be honoured.
In his remarks, the Benue state Governor Samuel Ortom insisted that any day the Federal Government wants to end insecurity in Nigeria, it will be done, pointing out that Fulani terrorists are the cause of insecurity in the country.
The Governor said it was laughable and shameful for anyone from Benue to say Fulanis are not killing people because of meal tickets.
He thanked the Church for always being supportive of his administration through prayers, adding that the conference by the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion has added spiritual value to the people of the state.
