Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel, has announced that the Federal Government has approved the construction of an airstrip at Faith Tabernacle in Canaanland.
He made this announcement during the Tehillah Night Special Edition at Covenant University Chapel, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, on Sunday.
According to Oyedepo, this development will allow him to travel directly from the church premises, eliminating the need for a helicopter ride to the airport first.
“I’m sure you’ll be pleased to hear that the Federal Government has approved an airstrip for Canaanland,” he said. “I won’t need to fly a helicopter to the airport; I can depart directly from here to wherever I’m headed. Members with their planes will also have a place to land and park.”
The airstrip is expected to enhance transportation for worshippers and visitors, particularly during major events that attract thousands from around the world. In his address, Oyedepo encouraged his congregation to discover their roles in God’s plan, using the example of Covenant University graduates who fly him. “Isn’t it exciting to know that some of the pilots who fly me are graduates of Covenant University? We may not have an aviation department here, but they found their calling in God and pursued it passionately.
“That’s the essence of this university—it’s not about confining you; it’s about helping you discover God’s purpose and chase it. Young people, don’t waste your lives; you don’t have a spare,” he urged.
The Tehillah Night special edition was a unique thanksgiving event honoring the bishop, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday in September.
