Pandemonium broke out yesterday, 19th October as a group of people attacked some of the #ENDSARS protesters and destroyed properties in the Kabusa area of Apo Mechanic Village, Abuja. Shops, vehicles, houses, and anything else the hoodlums could lay their hands on were not spared by the fracas. The situation had some protesters running for safety while others stood their grounds as much as they could. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has disclosed that he will not sign the 2021 budget if provision for compensation to victims of police brutality is excluded. Six persons have been killed in a tanker explosion at Lapai in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State. The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday when two tankers collided before exploding in the state. This was confirmed to Newspot by the Director-General of the State Emergency Management Agency, Ahmed Inga via the telephone. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on Tuesday constituted a 10-man judicial panel of investigation to look into complaints of police brutality in the state. The panel will also investigate complaints of human rights abuses and extra-judicial killings by the End SARS protesters. This followed a recommendation of the National Economic Council that each state should constitute a panel to receive and investigate complaints from the End SARS coalition. It will also make recommendations to prosecute erring persons and recommend compensations for victims or their families among other things.
