The Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, Bishop of Abuja Diocese and Primate of All Nigeria, presided over the 2025 confirmation service of the Gwarinpa Archdeaconry at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Gwarinpa on Sunday the 13th of July 2025.

In his homily delivered to the over a thousand congregation titled the new man, using the tribe of Jacob as an example, the Primate urged all present to walk with God to manifest His power in a time like this.

He added that they all need to be committed to God, throwing away their old lives and be courageous in stepping into the divine possessions laid out for them by God, emphasizing that believers are destined for a life of spiritual abundance and purpose.

He further expounded on the fundamentals of Christian living, encouraging them to “seek the things that are above,” a clear call to prioritize heavenly aspirations over earthly possessions.

He concluded his message with an important declaration, emphasizing God’s desire to empower every individual for impact: “God wants to empower us to shine, that little light of yours must shine.” This served as a reminder that even small acts of faith and goodness can have a significant spiritual ripple effect.

After the sermon, the supervisory priest and the General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria, The Venerable Dr. Paul Dajur presented the over 100 candidates prepared for confirmation.

With the Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba leading the rite, a total of 112 individuals were confirmed, publicly affirming their faith in Christ Jesus and commitment to the Anglican Communion. This sacred act signifies a mature, personal embrace of the Christian promises made at their baptism.

Beyond the confirmations, the service also marked a moment of significant growth for various church fellowships with 11 young men formally inducted into the Anglican Boys Fellowship, while the Girls Guild welcomed 6 new members. The Women’s Guild saw an increase with 39 individuals joining its ranks, and the Mothers Union proudly enrolled 15 new members.

The Archdeacon while speaking with ACNNTV, appreciated God for the divine service and for all the great things God is doing in the entire archdeaconry. He also took time to appreciate the Primate and Mama Nigeria for their dedication to the call upon them and for upholding the Church in all their activities.

He finally urged the confirmed and enrolled persons not to forget their callings and to stick to God in whatever they found themselves doing in life, praying that the good Lord will continue to support all they do as they remain in God.

Dr. Paul also urged Nigerians to keep moving despite the tough times in the country as the Lord is always with His people no matter the condition.
