The Anglican Communion Brigades of the Diocese of Lagos West has reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing spiritual growth and leadership among its members. This was emphasized during the Chaplains and Officers Conference themed “Be a Beacon of Light,” held in Lagos.

The Commandant, Mrs. Oluyemisi Taiwo, described the annual gathering as a vital platform for spiritual enrichment and leadership development. “This conference is designed to equip our Chaplains and officers. It’s a time for us to reflect, teach, and prepare ourselves for God’s kingdom,” she said.

She urged attendees to embody the conference theme, stating, “Be a beacon of light in your service to God and the church.” Taiwo also emphasized unity within the Brigades, reaffirming her commitment to spiritual, physical, and mental development across the Diocese.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Lagos West Brigades’ first-ever newsletter — a key milestone in Taiwo’s first year in office. She revealed ambitious plans for the coming year, including the establishment of a headquarters office and a music school for the Brigades.

Expressing gratitude, Taiwo thanked all stakeholders — Chaplains, officers, patrons, and supporters — for their unwavering support. “God will reward your labour of love in Jesus’ name,” she prayed.

Deputy Commandant Mr. Olaniyi Daniel highlighted the conference’s impact, noting that it fosters transparency and grooms future leaders. He added that the new newsletter would dispel misconceptions and provide members with greater insight into the Brigade’s activities.

“The newsletter opens up our operations to the wider public,” Daniel said. “It brings transparency and corrects the narrative that we are a secretive organization.”

The Newsletter Coordinator also shared the journey behind the publication. “The executive tasked me with driving this vision, and despite challenges, God helped us achieve this within a year — something past administrations couldn’t do.”

Looking ahead, the team plans to ensure the newsletter’s continuity by setting up a sustainable structure that will outlive the current leadership.
