Aiteo Cup: Women Moves Into The Quarter-Finals As Men’s Category Enters Round 16

The 2021 Aiteo Cup is getting more intriguing as both men and women events this year has witnessed some shocking results.

In the round 33 for the men category, NPFL sides, Rangers, Warri Wolves and Akwa United were sent packing by NNL teams while in the women category, Bright Future Queens upset Abia Angels.

In the round 16, we might be set to witness surprises again in the men category as the NNL sides who oust the NPFL teams in the previous round are pitched against another NPFL teams.

Having defeated NPFL league leaders Akwa United in the previous round, Gateway United will hope to continue their Cinderella run as they trade tackle Wikki Tourist who have not been really convincing this season.

Green Berets showed relegation threatened Warri Wolves the exit door in round 32 and will be up against another NPFL strugglers, Sunshine Stars. This is a winnable game for Berets if they turn up as they did against Wolves

Lobi Stars will have their hands full when they go head-to-head against Bayelsa United. Bayelsa United led Rangers Int’l out of the Cup competition in the last round and will be a very good match for Lobi Stars.

Kano Pillars vs Kwara United/Kebbi United round 16 opponent between Kwara and Kebbi United, Abia Warriors who scored 5 against Zamfara United in TCR last round will face Niger Tornadoes.

With the Women’s category in the quarter-finals, Bright Future Queens will hope to take it a step further having outs Abia Angels in the previous round but will need more than a miracle to do that as they’ve been pitched against NWFL and CAF Women Champions League contender, Rivers Angels.

Nasarawa Amazon vs Robo FC promises to be exciting while Edo Queens and Osun Babes face-off in a one legged quarter-finals affair.
