The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, Rev. William Okoye, describing his passing as a great loss to the Church and the nation.
In a statement issued on Thursday, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, extended his condolences to the late cleric’s wife, Toyin Okoye, his children, members of All Christians Fellowship Mission and the wider Christian community in Nigeria.
Archbishop Okoh described the late minister as a faithful servant of God who dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel, mentoring leaders and advancing the unity and growth of the Christian faith.
According to him, Okoye’s service extended beyond his ministry, as he held several leadership positions within the Christian community, including Chairman of the CAN Federal Capital Territory chapter, Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) FCT chapter, and later CAN National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare.
The CAN president said the late cleric made significant contributions to strengthening the Christian witness in Nigeria and promoting constructive engagement on issues affecting both the Church and society.
He also highlighted Okoye’s national service, noting that he served on the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference, the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, and as chaplain to two Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, where he also headed the Aso Rock Villa Chapel.
Okoh said the late cleric’s commitment to national development reflected his conviction that faith should positively influence governance and society.
Paying tribute to his personal qualities, the CAN president described Okoye as a humble and dedicated servant of God who discharged his responsibilities with wisdom, grace and unwavering commitment.
“He was deeply committed to the unity of the Church and was always willing to lend his voice and experience whenever called upon. His counsel, calm disposition and passion for advancing God’s kingdom will be greatly missed,” Okoh said.
He prayed that God would comfort the bereaved family and grant them the strength to bear the loss, while asking Him to grant the late cleric eternal rest.
