Religious leaders in Nigeria have been advised not to engage in hate speech but rather help to promote peace.
They were urged not to celebrate corrupt leaders and stop honouring them with titles in the church.
The Bishop of Anglican Communion, Kwara State, Rt Reverend Sunday Adewole gave the advice at a one-day dialogue on security organised by the government at the Kwara Hotels, Ilorin.
”Don’t celebrate corrupt leaders if they bring money tell them you don’t need it,” he said
Protecting sensitive information
The Bishop also advised security agents to protect confidential and sensitive information sourced from members of the public, to regain trust in the security operatives.
According to Rt Reverend Adewole, the collapse of family system and values stand as factor promoting corruption and crimes.
Meanwhile, the EFCC boss in Kwara State, Mr Isyaku Sharu has advised youths to stop glorifying looters of public funds in the society.
“We must stop glorifying these looters if we want to be secured. Security and corruption are interwoven. For us to enjoy security, we must wage war against corruption,”Mr Sharu said.
