Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi, Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has issued a warning to people that rear cattle, stating that any stray cow will be seized and slaughtered starting from the May 1st.

He made this disclosure during a press conference on Friday. The conference was a call to action on sanitation, indiscipline & stray animals in Kumasi.

He also stated that any cow slaughtered will be fed to inmates at the Kumasi Central Prison, effective May 1st.

The mayor noted that the decision was a response to the growing issue of cattle roaming around and disrupting the public.

He urged all cow herders to keep their animals out of public spaces to avoid the consequences.

“There is another thing I will want to you to help me look at. If you have cattle and if they stray in the vicinity of KMA, be assured that from May 1st, they will be killed and given to the Kumasi Central Prison for food.” he said.

“Especially the route from the airport through to Manhyia Palace. I cannot sit for visitors to come to Kumasi from the airport and all they see is fecal matter from cattle.”
