Ukwa Diocese Gets New Bishop

The Diocese of Ukwa, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has enthroned Reverend Manasses Chijiokem Okere as Bishop of the Diocese. With this Bishop Manasses Chijiokem Okere becomes the third Bishop of the Diocese.

The enthronement service/inauguration was held recently at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Akwete-Ndoki, Ukwa East Local Council of Abia State.

Okere was elected on translation to the See of Ukwa Diocese during the Church of Nigeria Standing Committee meeting held at Evo Diocese in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on February 24, 2022.

Born on July 4, 1974, Okere was elected, consecrated, and enthroned as Bishop of the Diocese of Isuikwuato-Umunneochi in 2012 where he served for over nine years before his translation.

In his message: “Doing the work of God while it is the day,” the text of which was taken from John. 9:4, Bishop Okere called on the people to serve God sacrificially and selflessly, especially now that they are alive and have the means and opportunity to do so.

The enthronement service/inauguration of ministry was graced by guests and dignitaries from across the nation including, the Archbishop of Aba Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Reverend Isaac Nwaobia, who represented the Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), His Grace, Most Reverend Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba. Over 20 bishops, as well as legal luminaries, senior government officials, captains of industry, members of the academia, traditional rulers, and the clergy/worshippers witnessed the enthronement.
