Two offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ebonyi State have been burnt down by unknown persons. Both offices are located in Ebonyi and Ezza North Local Government Areas of the state.
There were extensive damages to the building and facilities but no life was lost.
This occurred a few hours before a meeting scheduled for Wednesday May 19 between INEC and heads of security agencies over the attacks on the Commission’s offices.
The recent attack brings the number of offices of INEC that have been attacked and destroyed to 23.
The most affected states include Akwa Ibom (four), Abia (three) Anambra (two) and Imo (two).
From records, the other states including the FCT has that witnessed fire incidents between February 2019 and May 2021 are Ondo, Plateau, Borno, Ebonyi, Kano, Jigawa, and Rivers.
