Hailing from Tudun Wada Kaningkon in Jema’a Local Government, Kaduna State, Venerable Alkali Titus embodies dedication and leadership within the Anglican Communion. Born to the late Ssgt Alkali and Martha Kato, he began his education at Army Children School and later attended Federal Government College, Sokoto, from 1981 to 1992. His spiritual journey took a transformative turn in 1986 when he encountered Jesus, leading him to embrace ministry in January 1995 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Nyanya, within the Abuja Diocese.
In 1996, he enrolled at St. Francis of Assisi Theological College Wusasa, pursuing a Diploma in Theology while also earning a Diploma in Christian Religious Education (DCRE) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he graduated as the overall best student in 1999.
Continuing his studies, he attended the esteemed Theological College of Northern Nigeria in Bukuru, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Divinity. He further obtained a Master of Theology (MTh) in Church History from Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary in Abeokuta, along with a Master of Arts (MA) in Christian Religious Studies from Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo.
Upon completing his theological training, he was posted to Kebbi Diocese, where he was ordained as Deacon and Priest by His Grace, The Most Rev. Edmund E. Akanya, Bishop of Kebbi, in 1999 and 2000, respectively. His commitment to children’s ministry began with an intensive course in Advanced Children Evangelism (ACEC) at the Children Evangelism Ministry in Ilorin.
Venerable Alkali has held various significant roles, including Curate at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke’s Kebbi, Vicar of All Saints Anglican Church Jega, and Supervisory Priest for multiple churches. He served as Synod Secretary and Children Chaplain for Kebbi Diocese and continues to promote children’s ministry, currently collaborating with CEM Zaria and ACM at St. Francis Wusasa.
In 2008, he was seconded to St. Francis of Assisi Theological College Wusasa as a Lecturer, where he has played a vital role in revitalizing the college over the past 16 years. His leadership positions include Assistant Director of Studies, College Chaplain, Sub Dean, Deputy Rector, and Acting Rector.
In addition to his local contributions, he was appointed by the Primate in 2021 to serve on the Senior Clergy Training Course Committee and as a Board member for Theological Accreditation and Regulatory Board. He has also been active in church councils and community organizations.
Dedicated to ongoing professional development, he has participated in key conferences such as the Theological Education in Africa (TEA) and The Theological Educators Conference (TEDCO).
On April 2, 2005, he married his beloved wife, Helen (Dora), and together they are blessed with four children: Timothy, Tabitha, Treasure, and Todah.
