There are reports that the self-styled Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemi popularly called ‘Sunday Igboho private residence located in Soka area in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital was invaded by armed soldiers in a bid to arrest him and his supporters.
Aides of Igboho made this known on Monday in Facebook account of his media aide Olayomi Koiki claiming that soldiers invaded the residence at around 2 am on Monday but were resisted.
The spokesman, who raised the alarm in live broadcast at the car park of the activist’s residence, as gunshots were being heard, however claimed that the soldiers were responsible for the shooting.
“We are more than capable of securing ourselves; we have chased them far from here. I am sure you can hear gunshots. That is them shooting from afar, we cannot be intimidated because we are fully prepared and ready for them’, Koiki said.
“By tomorrow morning, I am sure the government would come with false press statements, that it was a set of unknown soldiers, that was the same tactic they used to attack Fela’s mother. They equally used it during #EndSARS’, he stated.
“They brought us a letter sometimes ago but we rejected them because the letter was what they used to kill Dele Giwa. We have chosen to be peaceful only for them to keep looking for our trouble which we won’t hesitate to give to them”, the media aide said
Police sources claim they know nothing about the said attack and they could not officially confirm to Patmos Media Line whether there was any attack as they have not received reports from anyone.
Unconfirmed reports said there were fatally wounded persons on the two divide.
The Yoruba warlord, it is recalled that, on February 26, claimed some security operatives attached to Oyo State Operation Burst attempted to arrest him at the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while on his way to meet elder statesman, Ayo Adebanjo, in Lagos.
Despite viral videos, the police and the State Security Service till date did not confirm that attempt to arrest Igboho who posted a video clip he said was of the encounter on social media.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the Army Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Yerima could not be reached for the authorities’ comments and reactions over the claim of Igboho and allegations against the army.
