Young people have been charged to pursue the virtue of purity despite the pressures around them.
This charge was given by the Administrator of the Cathedral of St. Andrew, Amichi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Ven. Chukwuebuka Chukwuemeka during the June edition of Leadership clinic.
Ven. Chukwuebuka while preaching on the topic “Keep thyself pure” said that purity of life should be regarded as the highest attainment in life especially among youths.
According to him, “Our lives are stained either by the things we do directly by ourselves or by the people or ideas we associate ourselves to.”
“Man can invent machines whereby he can hear his fellows speak across the continents or hear the song of the growing grass. He may count the stars and weigh the sun but if he does not have a pure heart, he cannot know God.”
Citing the story of Joseph’s promotion in the land of Egypt, Ven Chukwuebuka said that the promotion could not have been possible is Joseph had fallen to the trap of Potiphar’s wife. He noted that Mary the mother of Jesus would not have had any opportunity at all at receiving the favour of being the chosen vessel if she had not kept her purity.
He challenged young people to shun the pressure of sexual immorality in order to embrace the life of glory God has prepared for them.
Leadership Clinic is a monthly nondenominational mentorship programme for young people held every last Sunday of the month.
