Venerable Samuel Olanrewaju Ogunmiluyi hails from Ido-Ekiti in Ekiti state. He was born on 1st May 1965, to late Pa Alfred F. and Mrs. Julianah F. Ogunmiluyi. He was baptized on 31st December 1966 by the late Ven. S. A. Adeodu, and was confirmed, much later, on 19th October 1986 at St. Paul’s Church Oke-Bola, Ibadan, by the Most Revd. Timothy Omotayo Olufosoye.
He attended St. John’s Anglican Primary School, Ido Ekiti (1970 -1977) and Oganganmodu Grammar School (1979 – 1984) for his primary and secondary Education, respectively.
Sensing God’s call upon his life as a young choir member at St. John’s Ang. Church Ido-Ekiti, under a seasoned Church Administrator, in person of (now late) Ven. S.A. Adeodu, the young Samuel was welcomed into his vicarage with open arms.
The years 1985 and 1986 were very remarkable, as the Church had a new Vicar, in the person of the late Ven. S. A. Adejimi, another God fearing and experienced senior Clergy. No sooner than he came than he discovered young Samuel, took interest in him, nurtured him further and guided him. He ensured his admission into Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan, in 1986, where he had his Theological training till 1989.
Thereafter, he (Samuel) furthered his studies at the University of Ibadan, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree of Arts in Religious Studies in 1991. He was posted to Ondo Diocese upon the completion of his studies.
He was ordered a Deacon on Sunday 30th June 1991, at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Oke-Aluko, Ondo, by the Rt. Revd. S. O. Aderin, the then Bishop. He was appointed as a Bishop Chaplain and posted to the Bishops court, where he equally served as the Chaplain to the then Remilekun Chapel, now Chapel of the Comforter.
Few months after, precisely on Sunday 23rd December 1991, he was Priested by the same Bishop S. O. Aderin, at All Saints’ Anglican Church, Ogbonkowo, Ondo, and retained his post as the Bishop’s Chaplain.
He was posted to Bauchi State for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 1992 to 1993, where he was posted to St. Paul’s Cathedral, Bauchi, under The Rt. Revd. Dr. E.O. Chukwuma, (now retired Most Revd. Dr. E.O. Chukwuma, of Enugu Province / Diocese).
While there, he served as a Bishop’s Chaplain as well as the Cathedral Chaplain. He eventually became the Cathedral Canon on 27th July 1996.
His commitment to continuous learning is evident in his subsequent attainment of a Master of Theology (M.Th.) from Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary, Abeokuta, on 2nd March 2013, and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Christian Religious Studies, from Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, on 5th September 2017. He is presently pursuing a Ph.D. program in Theology (Comparative Studies), at Wesley University, Ondo.
He was preferred a Statutory Canon of St. Paul’s Cathedral Bauchi, on July 27th, 1996, by the Rt. Revd. Dr. E.O. Chukwuma, the then Bishop of Bauchi Diocese.
He was posted to St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Azare, Headquarters of Katagun Archdeaconry, as the Vicar and Supervisor of the area between October 1995 and March 1999.
On his return to Ondo Diocese, he was preferred a Statutory Canon on 1st of May 1999 by the Rt. Revd. Dr. G.L. Lasebikan, (later the Most Revd. Prof. G.L. Lasebikan, rtd) and posted to St. Stephen’s Cathedral Oke-Aluko, Ondo, as Canon-in-Residence. He also doubled as the Cathedral Youth Coordinator. A position he held from 1st May 1999 to September 2004.
Between 2001 and 2004, he also served as the Diocesan Women Chaplain. He was Preferred an Archdeacon on June 30, 2000, by the Rt. Revd. G.L Lasebikan (later the Most Revd. Prof. G.L. Lasebikan, rtd).
He was appointed Vicar and Archdeacon of All Saints’ Ang. Church, Ogbomkowo, Ondo, Headquarters of Ondo Archdeaconry, from 1st October 2004 to 30thSeptember 2008. His period witnessed monumental achievements, including Donations of: Bus, Generator, Houses / Property for endowment, first ever remarkable Synod hosting, which fetched him the maiden “Priest of the Year Award” in Ondo Diocese (2005), by the Diocesan, in recognition of his faithful and dedicated service to God and the Diocese.
He proceeded on transfer to St. Luke’s Ang. Church, Okeigbo, Headquarters of Okeigbo Archdeaconry, as both the Vicar and Archdeacon, between 1st October 2008 to 15th February 2016. Again, his tenure was very remarkable and loaded with achievements.
He was moved on transfer to St. Mary’s Ang. Church, Surulere, Ondo, Headquarters of Ondo Northeast Archdeaconry, as both the Vicar and Archdeacon, from 15thFebruary 2016 to 30th June 2018. His brief period was highly remarkable, as the Archdeaconry progressed in all ramifications. God also helped him to secure an Evangelism Van for the Church.
Again, he was posted to St. Andrew’s Ang. Church, Idimoge, Ondo, Headquarters of Ondo North Archdeaconry, as Vicar and Archdeacon, between 1st July 2018 to December 30th, 2022. To the glory of God his tenure, was peaceful and very progressive, as usual.
Furthermore, he was brought back again to St. Mary’s Ang. Church, Surulere, Ondo, on his second missionary journey, as Vicar and Archdeacon, from 31st December 2022 to date.
He was a member of Bauchi Diocesan representatives to the Provincial Synod, Archbishop’s Advisory Committee of Bauchi Diocese.
He was the supervisor at Azare / Katagun Archdeaconry, and he was also a member of Ondo Diocesan Medical Commission.
He has been the Synod Clerical Secretary of Ondo Diocese since May 3rd, 2007, to date. An assignment he does diligently, accurately, and with dexterity, which fetched him the appellation: “Human Computer”, by no less a person of the caliber of the Most Revd. Prof. G.L Lasebikan himself.
He is presently the Registrar, Bishop Awosika School of Discipleship, Ondo Diocese.
He is the current Chairman of Christian Men’s Fellowship, Ondo Diocese and the Coordinator of the Annual DIVCON Conference of Ondo Diocese.
He is happily married to Mrs. Oluwatoyin Foluke Ogunmiluyi, an Accountant with Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, and the union is blessed with two godly children: Oluwanifemi and IfeOluwaposimi, respectively.
