The Primate, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Archbishop Henry Ndukuba, has inaugurated a taskforce for the actualisation of the proposed Anglican University of Technology, Kwaita, Abuja, headed by Prof Jerry Gana, a former Minister of Information and Culture.
Speaking at the 2020 Divine Commonwealth Conference (DIVCCON) held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, Archbishop Ndukuba said the University would be built on the ‘‘The Bethel Camp Land’’ in Kwaita, on Abuja-Lokoja road, explaining that it would also serve as the permanent site for DIVCCON.
‘‘God through His servant, Archbishop Nicholas D. Okoh started the DIVCCON in 2011 and this year is the 10th edition.
‘‘The fencing of the Bethel Camp land will soon be completed.
‘‘That Camp land was given to us by the FCT Authority for the building of an Anglican University.
‘‘In order to develop the Campsite in a way that will be sustainable we shall build the Anglican University of Technology on the site in accordance with the purpose of the grant of the land by the FCT Authority.
‘‘We shall start with the Conference facilities,’’ he explained.
The Primate appealed to Dioceses and Provinces to be involved in building the hostel blocks which will serve as accommodation for delegates of DIVCCON.
He also urged the Church to pray and be part of the development of the permanent conference site.
Archbishop Adeleye Re-Appointed DIVCCON Coordinator
The Most Rev’d Tunde Adeleye, the Archbishop of Niger Delta Province and the Bishop of Calabar, has been re-appointed Coordinator for the DIVCCON Programme.
The Primate, Archbishop Henry Ndukuba, who announced the reappointment at the 2020 DIVCCON, thanked Archbishop Adeleye for accepting the request.
‘‘We thank God for the leadership Archbishop Adeleye has given us in DIVCCON. He will be retiring administratively in 2021.
‘‘We have requested him to continue as the Coordinator for the DIVCCON Programme and he has granted our request.
‘‘Therefore he will continue to serve God and God’s people in this capacity. We are indeed very grateful to Baba Tunde and Mama Adeleye for this labour of love for the Church of God. God will continue to bless you and your ministry and daily renew your strength,’’ the Primate prayed.
