The Jigawa Maternal and Newborn Child Health Accountability Forum (JIMAF) a non-governmental organisation has called on the Jigawa State government to release the sum of N300 million for free healthcare service to poor and valuable person programme.
The NGO made the call in a press statement issued made available to Tribune Online in Dutse by the co-chairman of the organisation, Baffa Nayaya, who said: “the provision of the fund had already been made in the 2021 budget.”
The statement added that “a total of 120,540 poor and valuable persons are to benefit from the programme in the state.
“The Forum calls on Jigawa State Government to complement the Federal Government’s effort by releasing N300 million set aside in its 2021 budget as equity contribution. This will pay for an additional 33,333 already enrolled beneficiaries making it 274 per ward.”
The forum congratulated Jigawa State government for emerging the first state in the Northwest geopolitical zone to commence the provision of Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) services.
The statement stated further that “This landmark achievement might not be possible without leadership support by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State. We equally appreciate the commitments and dedication by the State Ministry of Health, Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Jigawa State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency and other Development Partners in the State.”
