The Most Revd. Emmanuel Egbunu, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Lokoja, has said that every episcopate is under the watchful eyes of God. Egbunu made this assertion while delivering a sermon during the consecration of new Bishops today at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta.
He charged the new Bishops- the Rt. Revd. Ishaya Ganyidaba Baba (Diocese of Zaria), the Rt. Revd. Ramdi Raphael Wonole (Bari) and the Rt. Revd. Kingsley Obuh ( Asaba) to exemplify Christ’s character in their lives and ministry.
” Your lives as Bishops serve as mirrors that will lead people to heaven or hell”, Egbunu admonished.
According to the Archbishop, bishops do not choose themselves, rather God chose them. He emphasized that they should endeavor to remain faithful and obedient to God in the discharge of their duties as Bishops.
He enjoined those consecrated to maintain the attributes of a shepherd and not that of a wolf.
“Tend your flock, feed them, do not devour them, rather seek the lost, uphold the weak, ensure discipline and be merciful”, Archbishop Egbunu counseled.
