It was with a mixed feeling on Saturday 14 November 2020 at Ikorodu Lagos when the youngest child of Late Bishop Foluso Taiwo, the vibrant, multi-talented Oluwatobi Taiwo took to the altar Ngozika Ifeanyi in holy matrimony at Christ Foundation Outreach Ministry Ita- Oluwo.
The sudden death of Bishop Taiwo on Wednesday 11 November 2020 nearly signaled the call off of the wedding but the stoic mien of the widow gave the child as well as the family friends the spirit to put aside for the moment mourning of the loss of a loving husband and father and let the couple with Christian faith begin a journey of blissful wedlock. And so it was.
An engagement ceremony kicked off at 7 am and ended at 9 am to allow the couple dress up for the wedding service.
“Though at the beginning of the service, invitees who were trickling in wore sad faces but the mood changed as Mrs Taiwo came in with broad smiles in her usual self- always bubbling- not displaying any emotion- started greeting guests and taking photographs. The children were not left out in the conviviality as they welcome invitees with smiles.
The eldest son Tolu stood in for his late dad. Two Bishops were in attendance- Bishop of Yewa Diocese Michael Oluwarohunbi with his wife and the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowder University Oyo Bishop Dapo Asaju. The Bishop of Lagos Diocese Humphrey Olumakaiye was represented by his wife Prof Mrs. Motunrayo Olumakaiye. Venerable O.O Olagundoye, Chaplain Leads University Ibadan, and all the priests and their wives from Oke- Osun Diocese arrived in two buses.
“The church and the reception were filled to the brim. Remarkably, COVID-19 health Regulations were strictly obeyed as guests entering the reception hall were compulsorily made to put on the masks.
” The arena saw those selling masks made brisk business. The 1,0000 capacity hall was full to its capacity that few could not find seats.
