The bodies of two Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) undergraduates, have been discovered in a forest along the Ondo-Ekiti State border.

This grim finding comes three weeks after the disappearance of Andrel Eloho Okah, a student of History and International Studies and John Friday Abba who was a student of Economics which had caused significant alarm across the university community.

The students’ disappearance nearly a month ago led to extensive searches, social media appeals, and pleas for assistance from both the public and security agencies.

Friends and family had suspected kidnapping or other foul play, as attempts to contact the students were unsuccessful. A coursemate had expressed frustration over the slow progress of the search, highlighting that the students, who were close friends, had been missing for over two weeks with no contact.

The unfortunate discovery of their bodies occurred over the weekend in a secluded area near the Akoko-Ekiti border. A security source confirmed that the two missing AAUA students had been killed by suspected abductors, and their remains were abandoned for recovery.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, has indicated that further updates will be released as the investigation continues.

This distressing event has greatly impacted the AAUA campus, leading to urgent demands for enhanced student safety, especially in areas outside the university grounds. The students’ remains have been taken for official documentation and autopsy.
