The Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, has commiserated with the family of Naphtali Kefas, the commissioner who died Thursday.

Kefas was commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and hailed from Wukari.

He contested the Wukari/Ibi Federal House of Representatives election in 2019 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Danjuma Shiddi who was fielded by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He died in Jalingo after a brief illness.

Kefas’ death comes exactly four weeks after the demise of the Commissioner for Rural Electrification, Alexander Markus Senlo.

Governor Ishaku condoled with the chairman and people of Wukari Local Government Area over Kefas’ death.

The governor, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu, prayed for the repose of the soul of Naphtali Kefas.

The governor said: “Kefas’ death, less than a year of his appointment as member of the State Executive Council, has robbed the State of the services of a patriotic and hard working gentleman.”

“The late commissioner was very gentle and compassionate, which was the reason for his posting to the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation to help implement government’s pragmatic programme of giving hope and succour to the poor and the needy.

“We pray God to give the people of Wukari Local Government Area and members of the immediate family of the late commissioner the fortitude to bear this loss,” Ishaku said.
