Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has declared a total lockdown in three Local Government Areas of the State, following the resurgence of bandit attacks
The LGs affected are; Anka, Bukkuyum, and Gummi.
Gov. Matawalle also ordered the immediate suspension of all political activities in the state including APC meetings till further notice, as part of the measures to facilitate the efforts of security operatives in flushing out criminal elements in those areas.
The Commissioner for information, Ibrahim Dosara, who made the declaration in a statement on Friday, said the lockdown is to stop the spate of attacks in Yarkofoji, Birnin Tudu, Rini, Gora Namaye, Janbako, Faru, Kaya, Boko, and Mada towns.
He ordered the close down of markets in Danjibga and Bagega as well as Colony to Lambar Boko Road, Bakura to Lambar Damri Road, Mayanchi- Daki Takwas to Gummi Road, Daki Takwas to Zuru Road, Kucheri- Bawaganga – Wanke Road, Magami to Dangulbi Road and Gusau to Magami Road.
The Governor while expressing his worries over the resurgence of the activities of bandits and the recent killings of some innocent people in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka Bungudu, Maru, Maradun, and Kaura Namoda local government areas, further advised all stakeholders invited for the Friday APC meeting to hold on for a new date.
The state government, however, directed security operatives to deal with those found violating the orders.
