A pastor and a blind man were among five people confirmed killed by bandits who attacked four communities in Shiroro council of Niger State. The communities are Nankuna, Nansa, Eburo and Lagodo in Erena District in Shiroro council. A Kaduna Mobile Court has convicted a serving Army General for violating the COVID-9 lockdown order of the Kaduna State Government to contain the spread of the pandemic. The Federal High Court has authorised judges to adopt virtual proceedings for cases in all its judicial divisions nationwide. The Chief Judge of the court, Justice John Tsoho, gave the new direction titled: ‘Practice Directions 2020 for the COVID-19 Period,’ which became effective from yesterday. However, the new rules provide that the proceedings could only be held virtually with the consent of parties and their counsel. Crude oil prices jumped by about $2 per barrel yesterday with the global benchmark hitting one-month high and the United States’ crude climbing above $30 per barrel. The gradual recovery of oil prices was fuelled by optimism about the reopening of the economies and output cuts by major producers.
