The General Court Martial constituted to try the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Major General Hakeem Oladapo Otiki, has found him guilty on all five counts. The Court headed by the Army Chief of Policy and Plans, Lt. Gen Lamidi Adeosun, found Major General Otiki guilty of disobedience to service orders, theft of public property, among others. The Borno State Government has said that it has not started reconstruction work in five of the 27 local government areas of the state mainly because of insecurity. The local government areas where reconstruction is yet to start include Abadam, Kukawa, Guzamala, Mobbar and Gubio. The Federal Ministry of Water Resources, through the Nigeria Integrated Water Resource Management Commission (NIWRMC) has disclosed that operators of indiscriminate borehole drilling will be sanctioned and prosecuted for economic sabotage. The Executive Director of the Commission, Mr. Magashi Bashir, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, noted that the decision is part of its control measures for the borehole drillers in the country.
