The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has forecasted that Africa’s share of the volume of the world’s merchandise export and import will increase by 8.1 per cent and 5.5 per cent respectively in 2021. It also projected a 2.6 per cent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the continent in 2021 and 3.8 per cent for 2022. A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha-Jet has lost contact with radar in northeastern Borno State, while on an interdiction mission in support of ground troops. NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, in a statement on Thursday, said the Alpha Jet lost radar contact on Wednesday evening at about 5:08 pm. Radar systems are used at airports in detecting and displaying the presence and position of aircraft in the terminal area and the airspace around airports. Resident doctors in Nigeria have commenced an indefinite strike despite meeting with a federal government delegation to resolve pending issues. The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it will commence a nationwide continuous voter registration on June 28 across the 774 local government areas of the federation. Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the announcement, at a media briefing on Thursday in Abuja. He said the registration exercise will be carried out continuously for over a year until the third quarter of 2022.
