The Nigerian Army has appointed Maj.-Gen Dominic Onyemulu as the 13th Commander of the Special Task Force Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).

The operation has been maintaining peace in Bauchi, Kaduna and Plateau States for over a decade.

Onyemulu, who replaces Maj.-Gen Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, was the Director, Armed Forces Simulation Centre, Jaji, before his new posting.

At the official handing and taking over ceremony on Thursday in Jos, Onyemulu promised to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor.

He urged officers and men of the operation to support him in ensuring that the mandate of the task force was achieved.

“All hands must be on deck in order to make Plateau and our other areas of joint operation a peaceful abode.

“We are enjoying relative peace but we will consolidate and ensure absolute peace is achieved”, NAN quoted him as saying.

In his remarks, Okonkwo thanked the personnel of the taskforce for their efforts at ensuring peace in areas and states of operation.

Okonkwo commended them for their time, resources and energies and charged them to extend the support for him to his successor.
