A ransom of N100 million has been demanded for the release of Nelson Adepoyigi, a ward chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, who was abducted late Monday night in Ifon town.

The attack occurred around 10 p.m. while Adepoyigi was parking his car. Eyewitnesses say he was beaten with sticks before being forced into a waiting vehicle. His wife, drawn outside by his cries, arrived too late to stop the abduction.

Family sources confirmed that the kidnappers have since made contact and are negotiating the ransom amount. Discussions are ongoing to reduce the figure.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident, noting that Adepoyigi was taken near his farm along the Ifon-Owo road. A full investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to rescue him safely.

Meanwhile, a separate outbreak of violence in the Ikakumo community of Akoko Northeast Local Government Area has left one herdsman dead and two others injured, including the leader of a local vigilante group.

The clash reportedly began when a vigilante confronted a herder over the whereabouts of a missing man identified as Balogun. The encounter quickly turned violent.

The incident has raised fears of reprisal attacks among residents. Police say calm has been restored to the area and investigations are ongoing.
