The Anglican Women’s Ministry has called on the Federal Government to strengthen security measures and ensure that schools and communities across the country are adequately protected from terrorist and bandit attacks.

The call was made during the 15th Biennial Mother’s Union Conference of the Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Umuahia, Anglican Communion, held in Ubakala, Umuahia, Abia State.

Speaking at the event, the President of the Women’s Ministry, Gospel Ogechi Geo-Ibeabuchi, expressed concern over the increasing security challenges facing many parts of the country, noting that communities continue to suffer attacks from Boko Haram insurgents, bandits, and other criminal groups.

She lamented that many families have been displaced while pupils and residents in several states have remained vulnerable to violent attacks.

Geo-Ibeabuchi urged the Federal Government to demonstrate the effectiveness of its security strategies by ensuring that no community or educational institution is overrun by terrorists or bandits.

According to her, recent security incidents recorded in parts of Northern Nigeria, the South-West, and some areas of the South-East highlight the urgent need for improved intelligence gathering, stronger collaboration among security agencies, and proactive measures to prevent further attacks.

She also appealed to the Abia State Government and security agencies to pay close attention to security concerns in communities around Umuahia, including Amakama, Ohiya, and Lodu.

The women leader stressed that early intervention and sustained vigilance are essential to protecting lives, preserving peace, and preventing security threats from escalating.

Geo-Ibeabuchi further noted that many Nigerians are currently facing economic hardship, hunger, and uncertainty, urging governments at all levels to remain responsive to the needs and concerns of ordinary citizens.

She called for policies and interventions that would improve the welfare and security of Nigerians while fostering peace and development across the country.
