Anglican Senior Clergy Course Kicks Off At Ibru Centre Agbarha-Otor

The Senior Clergy Advanced Management Course organized by Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) at Ibru International Ecumenical Centre, Agbarha-Otor, for the selected senior clergymen of different dioceses has kicked off on Monday 18th January 2021.

The training which will continue to the end of the month started with a Holy Communion Service celebrated by the Rector of the Centre, the Ven. Dr Princewill Ireoba.

In his welcome speech, the Director of Studies, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Samuel Sowale (Bishop of Ilesa Diocese), and his Assistant, the Rt Rev. D.K. Bello (Bishop of Otukpo), encouraged the participants to be focused, disciplined and orderly in order to grasp the teachings and knowledge that will be passed to them by the resource persons who are carefully chosen to handle the different topics.

The Course Registrar, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Blessing Enyindah (Bishop of Ikwere Diocese) also welcomed the participants and encouraged them to follow the rules, guidelines and schedules of the training course.

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, the Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba, who spoke via zoom said that the Church of Nigeria is focused on raising competent and effective ministers that will be relevant and versatile and effectively fulfil their ministries. The Church considers it needful to train and retrain her clergy in the management and administrative cadre with a view to improving their effectiveness and productivity.

The Primate was optimistic that the participants will rise from the two-week long training to go back to their Dioceses and stations and partner with the Holy Spirit to put what they have learned into work for the greater work of Evangelism and Discipleship in this contemporary time.

He noted that we must not abandon the calling of God upon our lives and start pursuing vain and mundane things of life. He also challenged us to continue taking advantage of the richness of our liturgy in leading the people of God in the worship of God.

Topics expected to be covered in the training include: Conflict Resolution, Administration, Communication, ICT, Financial Management, clergy as a CEO, Health, Goal Setting, Human Resource Management, etc.
