The Aguata Anglican Diocese has organised a special church service for people from eighty years and above in the Diocese, as a mark of honor and acknowledgment of their vital role to family life.

Correspondent, Blessing Dennis reports that the special service held at the Cathedral Church of St John, Ekwulobia was attended by the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, his wife, Chinyere, clergymen, Anglican faithful, friends and well-wishers of the celebrant.

In his sermon, Reverend Ebenezer Okpala-Otubelu charged the elderly to mend their ways and live uprightly, even as he encouraged people to see their aged parents as gift, and show them adequate care while they are still alive.

Speaking shortly after the Church service, Bishop Ezeofor said ageing in the Bible represents experience and outstanding living, and urged the celebrants to be thankful to God for keeping them alive.

For the Bishop’s wife, Chinyere, those who have devoted many years to serving the Church and proclaiming Christ’s message are worthy to be respected and honored; as they have spent time preaching and teaching others what they have learned through time and experience, adding that their commitment to their Church community, and serving God are encouraging.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chief Robert Nwabueze, aged eighty-four and Mrs. Veronica Otaluka said God has been their rock and fortress since youthful days, and expressed happiness with the show of love from the Church, while praying for continuation for God’s blessings and longevity.
