The two women’s volleyball clubs representing host, Nigeria have crashed out at the Round of 16 on Tuesday at the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship
Hosts, Nigeria Customs Service (NSC) lost to Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-17). The hosts started like a house on fire before KCB overtook the Nigerian girls capitalizing on errors to emerg victorious by picking the quarterfinal ticket at the expense of NCS.
In the other game involving second Nigeria team, LTV of Cameroon had won two straight sets before Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) managed to win the third, but their efforts were not enough as it ended 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 25-17)
In the other Round of 16 games, two other Kenyan clubs qualified after Kenya Prisons defeated PVC of Rwanda in a though five-set thrilling game that ended 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 10-15) while KPC Kenya overpowered SSV Botswana 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-6).
APR of Rwanda are 3-1 better than La Loi VLL of DR Congo (25-18, 25-13, 22-25, 25-17). Carthage CFC of Tunisia proved superiority over SOC of Senegal with a 3-0 victory while Al Ahly defeated MKE of Cameroon 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-15)
Elsewhere, Zamalek of Egypt beat Omnisports of Ivory Coast 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-15).
Quarterfinal pairings saw Carthage CFC of Tunisia taking on LTV of Cameroon on Wednesday at 12 noon while Al Ahly of Egypt host Kenya Prisons at 2:00pm. Kenya Pipeline will face APR Rwanda in the third quarterfinal game at 4:00pm while Zamalek lock horns with Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in the last match at 6:00pm.
