The Primate Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba has called on Nigerians to turn to righteousness for God to turn around the fortune of Nigeria as the country goes into an election.
The primate made the call at the Cathedral Church of the Advent in Abuja said the year 2023 shall be to Nigerians the year of divine exaltation, but that God’s standards for individuals, families, and the nation have not changed.
“Proverbs 14:34 says, ‘Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people, and God’s standards will not change even for Nigeria. Therefore, for us to see promotion, increase growth, prosperity, and in fact, many good things that God intends to do for humanity this year.
“We need to walk in obedience, in diligence in faith with God, because if we refuse to honor God, God will not be forced to do what he wants to do, but he can still have a rule.
“So for us in Nigeria, our situation is already desperate. Our people are suffering. The masses are in trouble. Our economy is in shambles. Insecurity is everywhere, and in this devastating situation, God is asking us to return to the path of righteousness, that is the purpose of God for us,” he said.
According to Ndukuba, righteousness is the panacea to wickedness, it is the panacea to corruption and it is the panacea to every evil that has been.
“We are under siege of evil. A situation in which evil is covered and wickedness is encouraged and those who are in the corridors of power to do what they should do, are not doing the right things.
“For instance, when you look at what we have passed through as a nation, over some over some years now the laws and policies that would have ensured probity, that would have ensured fairness, that would have ensured that every part of this nation is well represented, no matter the place.
“The place one comes from the federal character is no more been used. And look at the ministries, look at those in the helms of affairs. They are all hand-picked from one favouring one area. That is not fair and that is not righteousness. Righteousness will promote peace.
“It will promote people becoming who they ought to be and contributing to building rather than to loot. We have suffered enough. This year is a transition year. It’s the Year of an election. It is the year of choosing new leadership,” the primate said.
He further said that 2023 is a year of making things happen again, that as religious people, Christians, people of faith, and even Muslims, if Nigerians will walk in righteousness with God, God will turn around the fortune of Nigeria.
“He will heal our land. He will deliver us from every bondage. So, I want to tell every Christian man or woman, boy or girl, that you have a stake in bringing about a turnaround in this nation, through your prayer, through obedience to the word of God, and above all, through participating.
“God is looking for a man or a woman, a family of people that will rise in such a time as this to put an end to this evil that has led siege upon this nation. We are trusting God, that surely Nigeria will rise again. Surely God will heal our land and restores it,” he said.
