2023 Elections: Archbishop Chukwuma Counsel Nigerians

The archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical province, and bishop of Enugu diocese, the Most Revd. Emmanuel Chukuma has opined that Politics is all about governance, service, and sacrifice for the people, and not a dirty game. Stressing that it is people that have made it dirty

Archbishop Chukwuma gave this assertion in Television Anglican Cable Network Nigeria Television, ACNNTV morning show, known as Now Streaming, where he appeared as a guest, via zoom, he also spoke on the importance of voting credible and eligible persons into position as against the mistake of electing mediocre who are illiterates into a position where they make politics dirty and make bad governance.

was invited via zoom to give an insight on the Church and Politics – Making the right decision come 2023.

According to him, Since Nigeria’s independence and the creation of the church of Nigeria; members of the church have been encouraged to participate in the political system to offer change and transformation for a better nation.

Archbishop Chukwuma also frowned at Christians who hold political positions and offices, which are expected to impact change but unfortunately joined the bandwagon.

He further called for absolute transparency, honesty, and equity in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Meanwhile, on the same show, Dr. Stephen Awoji  Agada, a Public Commentator, said that character is the basic requirement needed while making decisions come 2023 because it exposes the traits of a good leader

Following the Speech that was rendered by some of the Presidential Candidates at the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Associations (NBA), Most especially the speech said by the three major Presidential candidates; in the opinion of Dr. Awoji, he cites that in as much as who a person votes for is a private decision, still, people need to be guided, and give attention to their thoughts without adding sentiments. He said “As a citizen choosing the next President of the country cannot be on basis of past stories, instead Facts needs to be stipulated and the decision needs to be made based on Personality\Character, Performance, and Antecedent.  Generally, we are at a point where individual little gains from politicians won’t liberate us instead it will jeopardize the upcoming generation”.
