The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) of Northern States and Abuja, has urged Nigerians to strive to make peace with each other in 2018.

The CAN Public Relations Officer, Rev. Joseph Hayab, made the call in a statement in Kaduna on Sunday.

He said that as Christians celebrate the new year, there was a need for all citizens to contribute their quota to promote peace and unity in the country.

“We all need peace to grow, develop, be happy and prosperous. Our citizens are hospitable, gifted and wonderful in every area of their endeavors.

“If we have any resolution for the new year then let it be to love, forgive those who may have offended us,“he said.

He noted that our leaders needed our prayers and support to lead us on the right path.

“Leaders need to love their subjects and come up with programmes and policies that will help citizens to be happy and patriotic,”he said.

Hayab urged Nigerians to put aside issues and things that can divide the country.

He also urged the youths who are the future leaders of the country to learn how to accept, appreciate and work with others in the new year without fear or prejudice.
