There is a glimmer of hope for those looking forward to the creation of new dioceses in the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion.
The Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of all Nigeria Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba disclosed in Abuja on Tuesday 1 August 2023 that the three–year moratorium on the creation of new dioceses might be reviewed during the next General Synod holding in Nnewi in September.
He dropped this hint while delivering his speech titled: The Decade of the Reign of God: The Journey So Far at the ongoing Conference of Chancellor, Registrars, and Legal Officers at Matthias House, Plot 492 Ibrahim Waziri Crescent, Gudu District, Apo, Abuja.
However, the Primate has a caveat that if the review sails through it will no longer be business as usual as creation of dioceses will be guided by stricter rules with so many hurdles to overcome.
