The Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of all Nigeria Most Revd Henry Ndukuba has directed a three day fervent fasting and praying starting from 6th to 8th August 2021 for Christians nationwide and in the main members of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion asking  God to intervene in the worsening security situation in the country.
Most importantly his Grace Ndukuba implored the Anglican faithful to fast and pray for peace to reign so that retreats/conferences of most of the arms of the National Church starting in August till the end of the year be held seamlessly .
In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Venerable Gershinen Paul Dajur reads :
“To: All the Archbishops and Bishops, Church of Nigeria, (Anglican Communion).
Your Graces/My Lords,
CALL FOR PRAYER: CHURCH OF NIGERIA PRAYING FOR THE NATION.
Grace and peace of the LORD be multiplied unto you and yours always.
The Retreats/Conferences of most of the arms of the National Church are starting in August till the end of the year with the Standing Committee of the Church of Nigeria holding in the month of September in Lagos State.
These gatherings are not mere formalities to fulfill all righteousness but they are gathering geared towards Mission and Evangelization of our Nation with the Gospel. These programmes need to be backed up with prayers in order to achieve the set goals.
To this end, the Primate of All Nigeria, His Grace, The Most Rev’d Henry C. Ndukuba directs that Friday 6th August, 2021 – Sunday 8th August, 2021 be observed as days of Fasting and Prayers in preparation for these programmes (Friday 6th and Saturday 7th August Fasting and Prayers are to be held in all the parishes of our Church, while that of Sunday 8th August should be Prayer Rally at the Diocesan or Zonal levels).
Prayer Guide will be provided in addition to the local guide you may wish to generate. Also, you may liaise with the Church of Nigeria Prayer Mobilization Coordinator, The Rt Rev’d Dr Sosthenes Eze or Prayer Mobilization Desk Officer, The Ven. Oluwaseun Owoeye (08063818592) for more information on the subject matter.
Thank you for your usual cooperation as we continue to uphold the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion and our Nation in prayers.
The LORD be with you.
General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Venerable Dr. Gershinen Paul Dajur
CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) NATIONAL FASTING AND PRAYERS

DATE: FRIDAY, 6TH – SUNDAY, 8TH AUGUST, 2021.

PRAYER GUIDE FOR
DAY 1- FRIDAY, 6TH

SECTION A:
THANKSGIVING

1. Praise and Thanksgiving to God for his love for the Church, and in extension, for Nigeria.
2. Appreciate God for His reign and rule over the Church of Nigeria and her leadership. His protection that we have continued to enjoy (Psalm 24:1-2; Ps 103:1-3).
3. Thank God that despite the troubles over Nigeria, His mercy has continued to keep the nation.
4. Despite our wickedness, His mercies have prevailed over all manner of atrocities going on in the land.

SECTION B: CONFESSION OF SIN & REPENTANCE

5. Repentance at personal and corporate levels (Read 2Chron.7:13-14, Prov.14:34): over disobedience for bloodshed for hardened hearts, infighting, pollution of God’s sanctuary, offering strange fire (Lev.10:1-2), wastage of resources, etc.
6. Prayers of Repentance for our nation, over all the atrocities, bloodletting, kidnappings, violence, insincerity, evil works, increase of political terrorism, and selfish agenda, etc Palms 32,51, Neh. 9; Dan. 9; Lev. 26:40-42.
Deut.32: 1-3: Bring repentance on behalf of the Church and body of Christ for sins and iniquity that have not allowed our priesthood to be effective far above the prince of darkness.
8. Repent over the pains we are causing Him through the wickedness of our lives.
9. Pray that God will give His Church a mighty voice to denounce sin in the nation especially in this season of unbridled pervasion and injustice.
10. Pray that the spirit of repentance will sweep through the church and nation. Let there be brokenness of spirit in the midst of God’s people in the church and the nation.
