Expected to begin pre-season training with Napoli next week, Victor Osimhen’s future remains uncertain amid a lack of concrete offers from interested clubs. The Nigeria international had been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, but as PUNCH Sports Extra reports, no substantial bids have materialized.
New Napoli coach Antonio Conte has expressed that Osimhen is not in his plans for the upcoming season, though the striker will still join the team in Castel Volturno ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Osimhen’s hefty €130 million release clause has been a significant barrier for potential suitors, especially in the English Premier League. To attract offers, Napoli has lowered the asking price to €100 million. Manchester United has shown interest, reportedly preparing a cash-plus-player deal involving Denmark striker Rasmus Højlund joining Napoli.
Arsenal, despite initial interest, seems to be looking elsewhere. Reports from Il Corriere dello Sport indicate that the Gunners favor Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres, who, despite his own €100 million clause, has a lower salary than Osimhen, making him a more attractive target.
Chelsea’s focus has shifted following the appointment of new manager Enzo Maresca, altering their transfer priorities. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is considering Osimhen as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, now with Real Madrid. However, PSG seems more interested in Osimhen’s teammate, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, having already initiated talks with the Georgian winger’s agent, causing some tension with Napoli.
As the pre-season approaches, Osimhen’s future remains a subject of speculation. Despite his ambition to play in the Premier League, no decisive offer has been made, leaving his next move in limbo as the new season draws near.
