Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers state, says he is not keen on returning to office two months after President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state.

Fubara spoke during a gathering held to honor the late Chief Edwin Clark on Sunday. The event was organized by Rivers Elders and Leaders Forum.

“Have you asked yourself, do you think I’m interested in going back there. I want to ask you, don’t you see how much better I’m doing? Fubara asked the audience.

“Do you think I’m interested in going back there? If i had my way, I would say this is it. This is the will of God. I don’t wish to go back there. My spirit has left that place.“

He stated this while reacting to several tributes from people who referred to him as “governor” and condemned his suspension.

He said that those statements were personal views and not aligned with his approach.

He also cautioned his supporters from making decisions and taking steps without his approval.

He stated that he understood that their support only meant well but their actions could make his situation worse instead of better.

Fubara stated that he clearly understood his current situation more than any other person and knows the best way to deal with it.

Speaking firmly, he asked that anyone planning to speak or act in his interest must seek his approval.
