The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Professor Timothy Abiodun Adebayo, has urged the Federal Government to, without wasting more time, intensify efforts to tackle insecurity in the country.
He noted that this is necessary to ensure food sufficiency in the country.
Some parts of the country have been experiencing insecurity occasioned by kidnapping and banditry in recent times.
Adebayo, a professor of Agriculture, made these disclosures while addressing a press conference on Monday.
He said that Nigeria could attain food sufficiency, create jobs, banish poverty and attain unprecedented growth through agriculture.
He advised the government to address the problem of insecurity to let the dream become a reality.
“No country could develop or grow without the active involvement of her youths and adequate security.
“Nigerians have lost so much interest in Agriculture due to insecurity which has forced farmers out of their various farms,” he said.
