The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reminded eligible Nigerians that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will end today, urging citizens to register or update their voter information before the deadline.
The commission, in a post shared on its official X account on Sunday, stressed that there would be no further extension, encouraging prospective voters to take advantage of the final day of the exercise.
“Time is running out, but there’s still an opportunity to make your voice count. Register to vote or update your voter information before the close of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) today, Sunday, 26 July 2026,” INEC said.
The commission noted that the exercise covers new voter registration, transfer of voter registration, correction of personal details, and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
INEC advised eligible Nigerians to complete the process through its online CVR portal or visit any of its state or local government offices before the exercise closes.
The electoral body reiterated that participation in the registration exercise is a prerequisite for voting in the 2027 general election.
INEC had commenced the first phase of the CVR in August 2025 with online pre-registration, followed by physical registration on August 25. At the end of the phase in December, the commission recorded 2,572,054 completed registrations, comprising 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 in-person registrations nationwide.
The second phase ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026, with 3,748,704 completed registrations across the country. The third phase began in May, while the commission later extended the exercise by two weeks before announcing that it would finally end today.
