The Federal Government has announced the official theme and a series of activities to mark the country’s upcoming 65th Independence Anniversary on October 1, 2025.
According to a statement released by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the chosen theme is “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
The theme’s primary focus is to highlight the crucial need for national unity, cooperation, and a sense of shared responsibility among all Nigerians. It calls for the active participation of the public sector, the private sector, civil society, and the general public in working toward a nation characterized by lasting peace, progress, and prosperity.
The government noted that since gaining independence in 1960, Nigeria has navigated numerous challenges while also achieving significant milestones.
The theme is designed to reinforce the importance of building upon these past achievements and pursuing even greater national goals, in line with the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The schedule of events for the anniversary celebration includes a Juma’at Prayer service on Friday, September 26, at 1 p.m., followed by an Inter-Denominational Church Service on Sunday, September 28, at 10 a.m.
Additionally, a World Press Conference is planned for Monday, September 29, at 10 a.m. These events are intended to align with the anniversary theme and ensure its message is effectively communicated across all aspects of the nation’s life.
