Reigning champions Zamalek edged closer to defending the title after beating Descartes of Ivory Coast 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-15)
ZMK quickly demonstrated why they are the top in Africa with superb control of the ball, skillful touches and driving spikes when required. They got off to a slow start with a few mis-hits, but then started scoring to raced ahead to take the set 25-8.
ZMK started the 2nd set with a bang leading 15-8. OMD failed to response as the defending champions claimed the set 25-15.
OMD were struggling in the third set. They had little effect to the score line even after scoring an ace. ZMK gained from a couple of OMD faults and an ace and then fed the ball for the match point, a super spike! ZMK won 25-15.
