Nigeria’s Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has charged the Customs women’s volleyball team to make a stellar impression at the upcoming African Women’s Club Volleyball Championship. The team, representing Nigeria on home soil, will compete against top clubs from across the continent at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja from April 1-14.
Adeniyi’s call to action comes on the heels of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, accepting the role of Grand Patron for the tournament. He praised her tireless support for women’s sports and initiatives empowering young girls, citing her influence as a major source of inspiration for the team.
TOURNAMENT FAVORITES AND PARTICIPANTS
Some notable participating teams include:
- Egyptian Powerhouses: Al Ahly Sporting Club and Zamalek Sporting Club
- Kenyan Representatives: Kenya Prisons, Kenya Commercial Bank, and Kenya Pipeline Company
- Nigerian Teams: Nigeria Customs Service and Nigeria Navy
The competition will serve as the continental qualifier for the FIVB 2025 Volleyball Women’s Club Championship. With the backing of the First Lady and the nation’s expectations, the Customs team aims to make a lasting impression and bring glory to Nigeria.
